How Much Does it Cost to Rewire a House?

The cost of rewiring a house tends to vary depending on the size of the job and the property. A full rewire of a four-bedroom house will typically cost more than it would for a two-bed property, for example. Similarly, rewiring a kitchen extension wouldn’t usually demand as high a price as a full property rewire. When should you consider a house rewire?

A house may require a full rewire if it is over 25 years old due to the changes in Irish wiring legislation. Fuse boards and types of fuses used may be out of date and provide a danger to the occupiers. Your home insurance cover may also be at risk as it may not cover the type of electrical wiring/fuse board currently installed in your home. This is why it is vitally important to check this with a qualified electrical contractor such as House Rewire Dublin.

A specific issue may be causing the main trip switch on your fuse board to keep tripping. Examples of this include having a new electric shower installed or a new electrical cooker installed; both which require a higher grade of wiring to function correctly.
